My son Mark and I are fascinated with Greek mythology, and now my daughter Haley is reading Homer’s Iliad. This makes for great conversation around the dinner table.
We are learning the names of a lot of the gods and we are discussing the stories the Greeks used to explain things. One of my favorites is the story of Echo, which explains why we hear echos to this day.
With this said, you can be assured we will be going to see the new rendition of “The Clash of the Titans” which comes into theaters today. “The Clash of the Titans” is set in the Greek city of Argos where a war is about to explode between man and the gods. Persesus (Sam Worthington) raised as a fisherman, but is actually a demi-god. Persesus is the bastard son of Zeus (Liam Neeson) who is about to take on the gods after the death of his family. Zeus’ brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) was the one who kill his family, and Persesus wants to kill him. However, it is Persesus’ destiny to rescue the city of Argos from the ruthless rage of Hades and his Kraken monster. With nothing to lose, Persesus leads a band of soldiers on a quest to defeat the Kraken. In doing this, Persesus will prevent Hades from overthrowing Zeus and in turn destroying mankind.
Mark went to see the movie tonight. He says it is “insanely awesome!” When I asked him what he liked most about it he replied, “the epic-ness.” He said the graphics were superb and lifelike. It was action packed with many fight scenes. The Kraken was beyond beastly and awesome. I think it is safe to say that Mark completely enjoyed the movie. He recommends it highly and he is ready to see it a second time! He says it is totally worth the money.
